STS-4/STSR: PCRI and Toric Alignment Imaging
Sunday, May 7; 8 – 10 a.m. Lead Instructor: Jonathan B. Rubenstein, MD
Participants will be able to practice techniques to control pre- and postoperative astigmatism in the cataract patient through the use of imaging technologies, as well as through the creation of manual and femtosecond intralimbal corneal relaxing incisions.
STS-9: Iris Prosthesis
Monday, May 8; 1 – 3 p.m. Lead Instructor: Michael E. Snyder, MD
Participants will be able to practice the intricate steps of implanting an iris prosthesis. Those with a particular interest in iris reconstruction for either congenital or acquired iris defects will work side-by-side with skilled instructors demonstrating advanced surgical techniques, using a variety of available iris prostheses. This session includes a pre-requisite didactic training, on-site in the lab room.
Seats are also still available for the five FLACS sessions. During these sessions, participants will practice techniques for integrating femtosecond laser technology and associated anterior segment imaging into premium cataract surgery. These lab sessions feature dedicated hands-on time with various platforms under the guidance of physician instructors and industry technical support teams. Discussion will include how femtosecond lasers assist with the treatment of corneal astigmatism, the capsulotomy and lens fragmentation, as well as options for managing difficult cases.
