Register Now: FDA Ophthalmic Digital Health Workshop, Cosponsored by ASCRS and Ophthalmic Community

The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) is partnering with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS), the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), and Stanford Medicine, Byers Eye Institute to sponsor a one-day workshop titled “Ophthalmic Digital Health.”

The workshop is being held on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET at the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg in Gaithersburg, Maryland. For those who are unable to attend in person, the workshop will be available as a live webcast.

The workshop will bring together healthcare practitioners, researchers, medical device firms, mobile application developers, patients and other stakeholders to address factors in evaluating and improving the safety and effectiveness of ophthalmic digital health devices. Guest speakers include FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, MD, and the FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health Director Jeff Shuren, MD, JD. The objective of this workshop is to discuss factors to consider when evaluating the safety and effectiveness of digital health devices, as well as ways to improve their safety and effectiveness.
