House Votes to Add $1.14 Billion for Veteran Care to $146 Billion Appropriations Package

Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted 225–187 to approve the rule for floor debate on a $146 billion "minibus" appropriations package that includes $1.14 billion to augment funding of such Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs as Veterans Choice, which allows veterans to receive healthcare outside regular VA facilities.

As we have reported, the House and Senate already passed legislation, which President Trump signed on Wednesday, to provide $5.2 billion in funding for the Veterans Choice Program. The additional $1.14 billion would also be used to help veterans seek private medical treatment when necessary.
