This week, CMS announced it has begun mailing new Medicare cards to beneficiaries who live in “Wave 4” states, including: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Additionally, CMS continues to mail new cards to new Medicare beneficiaries nationwide and existing beneficiaries living in Wave 3 states, including: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
CMS has completed mailing new Medicare cards to those in Wave 1 and 2 states and territories, including: Alaska, American Samoa, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Guam, Hawaii, Maryland, Northern Mariana Islands, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Virginia, and West Virginia.
If Medicare beneficiaries say they did not receive a new card, CMS recommends doing the following:
- Distribute the “Still Waiting for Your New Card?” handout (in English or Spanish); or
- Tell them to call Medicare at 800-633-4227, where they can talk to a Medicare representative to confirm their correct mailing address.
