ASCRS to Manage Storm Eye Institute Annual Meeting

Fairfax, VA – The Storm Eye Institute of the Medical University of South Carolina and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) today announced the scheduling of the Storm Eye Institute Clinical Update meeting for May 29 – June 1, 2003, at Kiawah Island East Beach, Charleston, SC, and that ASCRS will provide management support for the annual Storm Eye Institute Clinical Update meetings.

“We are fortunate to have an energetic group of renowned faculty providing world-class teaching and surgical pearls in a small intimate setting with a lot of one-on-one communication between themselves and the attendees.  “We are thrilled to have ASCRS partner with us as we expand our meeting to offer a broader range of topics for the general ophthalmologist, including more scientific, practice management, financial, and technical programs.  The relaxed setting of Kiawah Island and the activities surrounding this meeting permit this to be a family venue, to which our attendees return year after year,” said Kerry Solomon, MD, professor of ophthalmology, and medical director of the Magill Laser Center for Vision Correction.

“We’re also delighted to be able to provide ongoing management support to this conference.  It has long been recognized as a small, intimate meeting offering direct access to a renowned faculty,” said Marguerite McDonald, MD, ASCRS president, adding, “The meeting venue, coupled with the high-quality and clinical relevance of the presentations make this one of ophthalmology’s most valuable conferences.”

Faculty for this year’s conference include: Eric Donnenfeld, MD, Howard Fine, MD, Edward Holland, MD, Stephen Lane, MD, Richard Mackool, MD, Louis Nichamin, MD, Lee Nordan, MD, Robert Osher, MD, Ronald Salvitti, MD, James Salz, MD, Woodford Van Meter, MD, and Kerry Solomon, MD

CME credits will be awarded for the physician program; the courses for the nurses and technician’s programs will be submitted to JCAHPO and ASORN for consideration for credit approval.
