Intraocular open-capsule device (IOCD), for posterior capsule opacification (PCO) prevention, of different designs investigate in three rabbit studies, in comparison to a control group that implanted with the same IOL but without the IOCD. The eyes evaluated for PCO and Soemmering’s ring clinically, by the Miyake Apple view and histologically. All the devices showed significant prevention of about 80% of PCO and Soemmering’s ring compared with the control group.
