The purpose of this course is to present the most widely used artificial cornea or keratoprosthesis for the treatment of corneal diseases not amenable to standard penetrating keratoplasty. An update will be given on recent advances in design, treatment strategies to decrease postoperative complications, how to improve outcomes, expanding indications, and challenging case presentations.
