This presentation discusses the ideal method for performing an anterior vitrectomy in the event of posterior capsule rupture during cataract surgery. It explains how even cataract surgeons can approach the vitreous through the pars plana route and ensure not only better vitrectomy, but prevent enlargement of the rupture by pulling the vitreous toward its base. It also explains a step by step approach to performing a pars plana vitrectomy using the phaco machine.
