Course Description
Video-based course will demonstrate step-by-step techniques using MIGS as a stand-alone procedure and in combination with phacoemulsification. Various MIGS devices will be presented in the didactic session and practiced in the skills transfer lab. (Separate registration required). Discussion will include the proper choice for each procedure tailored to the individual patient, use of adjunctive therapy, as well as management of complications.
Course Faculty
Shakeel Shareef, MD
Dr. Shakeel Shareef, MD, joined the University Hospitals Eye Institute July 1, 2019 and serves as the director of the Glaucoma Service and oversees the Glaucoma Fellowship Program. He performs a variety of complex anterior segment surgeries including traditional and micro-invasive glaucoma surgeries, complex cataract procedures, traumatic iris and cyclodialysis cleft repair.
Rahul T. Pandit, MD
Dr. Pandit is an Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology, Weill Cornell Medicine, and practices at Houston Methodist Eye Associates within the Blanton Eye Institute, Houston, Texas. He serves as medical director of the Houston Methodist Hospital Ophthalmology Operating Room.
Michael D. Greenwood, MD
Dr. Michael Greenwood is a Fargo, ND board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, glaucoma, cornea, and LASIK surgery. Upon the finality of the fellowship with Vance Thompson Vision, Dr. Greenwood was invited to remain on the staff, working among the greater Midwest’s most accomplished ophthalmologists. Today, Dr. Greenwood leads Vance Thompson Vision’s Fargo, ND area location.
Mark J. Gallardo, MD
Dr. Gallardo has active faculty positions as Texas Tech School of Medicine in Lubbock and The University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio in addition to his private practice at El Paso Eye Surgeons, P.A..  Dr. Gallardo continues his efforts to advance the science of medicine, is actively involved in research and is a part of multiple on-going FDA clinical trials.
Paul J. Harasymowycz, MD
Founder and Medical Director of the Bellevue Ophthalmology Clinics and the Montreal Glaucoma Institute, and Associate Professor at the University of Montreal, Dr. Harasymowycz works as a clinician and researcher at The CUO (Centre Universitaire d’Ophtalmologie) and the Guy-Bernier Research Center since 2001. He was Chief of Glaucoma at University of Montreal for over 15 years. 
Ike K. Ahmed, MD
Dr. Ahmed has become world renowned for his skills and groundbreaking work in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of highly complex eye diseases including glaucoma and surgical complications. He is recognized as being one of the most experienced complex eye surgeons in the world and has trained numerous surgeons in innovative surgical techniques.
Patrick Gooi, MD
Dr. Patrick Gooi is the Glaucoma Subsection Lead and an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary. He specializes in the surgical management of glaucoma, complex cataract, and anterior segment reconstruction. Dr. Gooi is enthusiastically involved in medical education and innovation, being a Western Canadian leader in novel glaucoma surgeries. 
Blake K Williamson, MD
Dr. Blake K. Williamson, MD, MPH, MS is a third-generation eye doctor who continues the legacy of his family, taking care of the great people of Louisiana for nearly 70 years. Dr. Williamson has established himself as a nationally recognized surgeon, thought leader, and lecturer in the fields of advanced cataract surgery, laser vision correction, and micro invasive glaucoma surgery.
Nir Shoham-Hazon, MD
Nir Shoham-Hazon, MD completed an Ophthalmology residency in Israel, in January 2010. Thereafter, Shoham-Hazon pursued the lucrative fellowship at the University of Toronto, with the world renowned Ike Ahmed. Shoham-Hazon is a reviewer and guest reviewer for various international peer-review journals.
