Course Description
This course will be presented by the members of the ASCRS IOL Calculation Subcommittee. It will discuss 8 things you need to know for the best outcomes following cataract surgery. Topics will include the role of the surgeon, accuracy standards, preoperative biometric data validation, an update on IOL power formulas, IOL power selection in high axial myopia and hyperopia, eyes with toric IOL, and eyes with previous corneal refractive surgery.

Warren E. Hill, MD has been the Medical Director of East Valley Ophthalmology in Mesa, Arizona for the past 28 years, specializing in consultative ophthalmology, challenging anterior segment surgery for other ophthalmologists and intraocular lens power calculations.

Robin R. Vann, MD, ABO
Robin Raul Vann, MD is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC. He is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist who specializes in patients with cataracts and cataract surgery related problems.
Helga P. Sandoval, MD, MSc
Dr. Helga Sandoval is a respected ophthalmologist who has been the director of research at Carolina Eyecare Physicians in Charleston, SC. In addition, Dr. Sandoval has a faculty appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Medical University of South Carolina’s (MUSC) department of ophthalmology.
Li Wang, MD, PhD
Dr. Wang received her M.D. & Ph.D. in ophthalmology from the Harbin Medical University, Harbin, China. She is currently working on a gene therapy target to the anterior segment, in a model of glaucoma. Her interests include molecular mechanisms of inherited glaucoma to find the gene-based diagnostic tests and develop gene therapies for glaucoma to be a clinician-scientist.
