Because the iris is used as a posterior diaphragm to assist in graft unfolding, aniridia and aphakia are often considered hard contraindications for Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK). This video showcases a new technique to allow for the possibility of performed DMEK in patients with aniridia and aphakia.
