Statement from ASCRS President Nick Mamalis, MD confirming 2020 ASCRS Annual Meeting
I want to assure you that the 2020 ASCRS Annual Meeting is proceeding as planned and will be held May 15 – 19, in Boston MA. Several of you have contacted me to confirm, and I want to assure all of you that our plans are unchanged. If you have heard rumors suggesting otherwise, they are unequivocally false.
The 2020 ASCRS Annual Meeting will feature a number of exceptional outside speakers including (among others) Scott Gottlieb, MD, Former Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and frequently quoted on the topic of Coronavirus, Coach Mike Krzyzewski, “Coach K,” the winningest coach in college basketball history, and a number of internationally-respected luminaries in ophthalmology who we will honor and celebrate at the meeting.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the immediate risk of Coronavirus to the American public is believed to be low at this time. I hope you will not be persuaded by fear or lack of information, and look forward to seeing you in Boston.
Nick Mamalis, MD
