Skills Transfer Labs for All Attendees

Hands-on skills transfer labs are included with registration for all physician attendees at the ASCRS Summer Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. Targeting several areas of anterior segment surgery, these labs will take place August 11–12 at the meeting, alongside clinical programming and smaller breakout sessions.

Skills transfer lab offerings include:

Anterior Segment Surgery Lab: Covers minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, Yamane technique, nuclear disassembly, pupil expansion, and CTR insertion.

Phaco Lab: Covers phaco settings and fluidics, incisions, capsulorhexis, phacoemulsification, cortex removal, nuclear disassembly, chopping, flipping, and anterior vitrectomy.

DMEK: Covers DMEK implantation and positioning of the donor cornea tissue through the use of an artificial anterior chamber and pre-loaded corneal tissue.

DSAEK: Covers tissue insertion for DSAEK and positioning of the donor tissue.

Submit Your Nomination by July 15

ASCRS is accepting nominations until July 15 for candidates for Secretary on the 2024 ASCRS Executive Board. This position will have succession responsibilities, including Treasurer, Incoming President, and ultimately 2027 President.  

Criteria for consideration of an ASCRS Executive Board member include:

  • Member in good standing of ASCRS and service to ASCRS
  • Contributions to scholarly research
  • Presentations at national/international meetings
  • Teaching activities
  • Leadership qualities
  • Clinical/surgical expertise and reputation
  • Industry/corporate relations/collaborations  

To nominate an ophthalmologist for the position of Secretary on the ASCRS Executive Board, please send an email to [email protected], describing how the nominee fits the above criteria and why you are recommending them for this position. A CV may also be attached. Nominations can be for yourself or another member. Per the ASCRS Bylaws, the Nominating Committee will review submissions and present their recommendation(s) to the Executive Board.

Each year the Ophthalmic Photographer’s Society (OPS), in conjunction with the ASCRS Annual Meeting, hosts the ASCRS/OPS Photo Competition.

OPS created a video compilation of the award winners from this year’s competition, which showcases the high-quality ophthalmic images that demonstrate superior imaging techniques in more than a dozen categories.
