ASCRS Foundation Seeks Volunteers for Patients in Need

The ASCRS Foundation’s Operation Sight, a program that connects uninsured or underinsured patients in need of cataract surgery in the U.S. with a comprehensive network of charitable volunteer surgeons and practices, is looking for volunteers to meet patient needs in local communities, particularly in Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas.

There are unmatched patients in need of cataract surgery due to a lack of Operation Sight volunteers in these geographic areas. Some of these patients have been on the waitlist for months.

If you are an ophthalmologist practicing in one of these states and are interested in volunteering with Operation Sight, click here to learn more about getting involved.

Don’t Forget to Submit Your Nomination

ASCRS is accepting nominations for the Executive Committee position of 2025 ASCRS Secretary.

ASCRS Secretary is a position on the ASCRS Executive Committee with succession responsibilities, including Treasurer, Vice President/President Elect, and ultimately 2028 President.

To nominate an ophthalmologist for the position of Secretary on the ASCRS Executive Committee, please send an email to [email protected], describing how the nominee meets the following criteria: a member in good standing/service to ASCRS, contributions to scholarly research, presentations at national/international meetings, teaching activities, leadership qualities, clinical/surgical expertise and reputation, and industry/corporate relations/collaborations.

Submissions are due July 5.

Catch Up on These Special Member Messages
