Manual Small-Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) is used routinely in developing countries where a higher proportion of dense cataracts are extracted. Through this COVID-era many patients in the Western World are presenting with denser cataracts. We propose that MSICS can be used safely and effectively in this group of patients whereby phacoemulsification could lead to further complications.
