Since four iris hooks produced a square pupil, we assumed that the square is the best shape for a pupil expander. However, objective scientific analysis demonstrates that a hexagonal pupil expander is much more efficacious, safe and practical. With a very thin vertical profile added to that, we have a disruptive pupil expander design which redefines pupil expansion.
