Video Submission Opportunities

ASCRS Symposia Accepting Video Submissions

There are several video submission opportunities that are part of symposia at the upcoming ASCRS Annual Meeting. Scroll down to review the opportunities and read the submission criteria.

Videos for all of these sessions are being accepted between September 27, 2024–January 17, 2025. Selected videos will be notified by Friday, March 7.*

*If selected, the video presenter must be present onsite at the Annual Meeting in Los Angeles.

Video Submission Opportunities
Get H.I.P Cataract

“ASCRS Get H.I.P.” is comprised of four new sessions in the areas of cataract, cornea, glaucoma, and refractive that will focus on “High Impact Pearls.” ASCRS is asking members to submit brief, short-form videos (between 30–90 seconds) for inclusion in these sessions. Several videos will be selected per session for presentation on stage at the Annual Meeting. Video presentations will be followed by panel discussion.

Here are the suggested categories for video submissions for “Get H.I.P. Cataract”:

  1. Patient selection and diagnostics
  2. Patient counseling
  3. Surgical techniques/tips
  4. Surgical complications and how these could have been avoided
  5. Postoperative complications
  6. New surgical instruments/devices
  7. Office efficiency
  8. Wild card

Submission Parameters:

Upload a PowerPoint presentation containing the following:

  • Clinical/surgical pearl written on a slide
  • Embedded case video (max length: 90 seconds)
  • Audio voiceover is required (video visual of the speaker is optional) for submission, and, if selected, the voiceover will be used on stage to ensure we stay on time.
  • The maximum file size for your submission is 1 GB.

Get H.I.P Refractive

Complicated and Challenging Cases in Cataract Surgery Video Symposium

The ASCRS Cataract Clinical Committee is in search of video cases for the Complicated and Challenging Cases in Cataract Surgery Video Symposium taking place during the 2025 ASCRS Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 26 from 1:30–3:00 p.m.

Submit your unusual and challenging video cases involving any aspect of phaco, femtosecond cataract surgery, and IOLs from your practice.

The selection criteria for the videos to be presented live at the ASCRS Annual Meeting will emphasize clinical and educational merit. If your case is selected, you will have 5 minutes to describe the clinical aspects of the case. The Cataract Clinical Committee panel will discuss the case, the audience will vote, and the panel will award the “Golden Apple” to the best teaching case.

YES Good to Great Surgeon: Complicated and Challenging Cases Video Symposium

The ASCRS YES Clinical Committee is in search of video cases for the Good to Great Surgeon: Complicated and Challenging Cases Video Symposium taking place during the 2025 ASCRS Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 26 from 8:00–9:30 a.m.

Young eye surgeons are encouraged to submit unusual and challenging video cases from your practice.

The selection criteria for the videos to be presented live at the ASCRS Annual Meeting will emphasize clinical and educational merit. If your case is selected, you will have 5 minutes to describe the clinical aspects of the case. The YES Clinical Committee panel will discuss the case.

ASCRS Glaucoma Day: Reay of Hope Video Session

The ASCRS Glaucoma Clinical Committee is in search of video cases for the Reay of Hope Video Session taking place during ASCRS Glaucoma Subspecialty Day on Friday, April 25 from 3:15–3:45 p.m.

Submit your video cases that:

  • Involve complicated cases you have encountered in the glaucoma space
  • Have an interesting teaching point
  • Drive discussion through multiple approaches to management
  • Require advice/guidance from faculty regarding management

The selection criteria for the videos to be presented live at the ASCRS Annual Meeting will emphasize clinical and educational merit. If your case is selected, you will have 5 minutes to describe the clinical aspects of the case. The Reay of Hope Video Session moderators and panel will discuss the case.

Retina for the Anterior Segment Surgeon

The Retina Clinical Committee sponsors a symposium every year that focuses on retina for the anterior segment surgeon. An exciting part of this symposium are audience-submitted case videos.

Submit your video that involves the retina or vitreous (i.e., ruptured PC) and:

  • Has an interesting teaching point
  • Has multiple approaches to treating that would promote discussion
  • Requires advice/guidance from faculty regarding management

Submission parameters:

Upload a PowerPoint presentation that meets the following criteria:

  • MP4 or MOV format preferred
  • No more than 2 minutes in length
  • The maximum file size for your submission is 1 GB.
  • Please include the intended session in the name of your PowerPoint file (i.e., "Retina for the Anterior Segment Surgeon_SmithVideo1.pptx"
  • Optional: You are welcome to record a voiceover to explain the details of your case submission or upload a presentation file with quick details of the case.
