A novel technique of peripheral coring of central nucleus, with a specially designed phaco needle, is demonstrated. The central nucleus is then emulsified without rotation. The remaining epinucleus and cortex is dissected by manual as well as visco assisted techniques. The newly designed phaco tip and the technique proved very useful in preventing nucleus drop in posterior polar cataracts.
