The free-floating capsulotomy in femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery can be used as a protecting shield for the corneal endothelial cell layer. This new reproducible technique utilizing the properties of two different viscoelastic substances helps to stick this clear autologous tissue to the endothelial cell layer throughout the surgery, thus helping the endothelial cells to survive the surgery completely.
