Viscoelastic substances (VS) could be protective for the corneal endothelium but also could be a cause of complications (TASS, post-operative IOP riseā€¦) Phacoemulsification cataract surgery could be safely and efficiently performed without VS as this video will show with a technique called Bianchi's method.
