Description
This new technique may also be called as “Pierce & Chop”. This is a slight modification of Direct/Vertical Chop but an extremely effective way to get a clean separation of all the four quadrants. My technique decreases the Phaco time, decreases Phaco energy, and it also increases the patient safety as one need not have to go up to the equator to chop as in Horizontal Chop. It is also quite useful in small pupils as chopping is done under full visualization.
