• Volunteer a charitable cataract surgery through Operation Sight in 2022! Now is the time to get involved! Operation Sight provides ophthalmologists and practices, the opportunity to provide charitable care to a pre-screened patient in need within their own community. Whether you can provide one charitable cataract surgery or one hundred, your impact will be substantial to the patient and their loved ones. If you have already provided a surgery, view your name on our website, or reply to this email to ensure you are properly recognized!
• Pledge a charitable surgery in the next six months! We will contact you and connect you with eligible patients from your community who are in urgent need of care. ASCRS FOUNDATION OPERATION SIGHT VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR SPOTLIGHT
The ASCRS Foundation is proud to spotlight the 2022 Operation Sight Volunteers of the Year in our newsletter. This month, we shine a light on Reena Patel, MD. Dr. Patel is recognized for her incredible talent, generosity, and passion for providing Operation Sight patients in her community local care! Dr. Patel recently discussed her experiences with the ASCRS Foundation’s Operation Sight program, the mutual benefits it offers surgeons, and how the program supports and inspires care where it is needed most:
“One single surgery creates a ripple effect in a community. To be able to help one single person see the world in a better way is life-changing. Helping someone disadvantaged is my contribution to my community. With better vision, my patient is able to better take care of their family or work which allows their family to do better which allows my community to do better which allows our country to be better.” - Reena Patel, MD
