CMS has now updated its MIPS eligibility look-up tool to include group eligibility for 2018 MIPS. Visit CMS' QPP site, qpp.cms.gov/login, and log in using your EIDM credentials, locate the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) affiliated with your group, and you will be able to click into a details screen to see the eligibility status of every clinician based on their National Provider Identifier (NPI) and find out whether they need to participate during the 2018 performance year for MIPS. You will also be able to see if the group as a whole qualifies for MIPS.
As a reminder, CMS increased the MIPS low volume threshold in 2018 to $90,000 in allowed Part B charges or 200 patients. If you see a high volume of Medicare Advantage patients, physicians in the practice may be excluded from MIPS. It is recommended all practices check the eligibility of their practitioners.
