CMS Solicits Feedback on Strategies to Reduce Administrative Burden in Request for Information on Patients Over Paperwork Initiative

This week, CMS issued a new request for information (RFI) related to its Patients Over Paperwork initiative. CMS implemented Patients Over Paperwork in 2017 to address administrative burdens related to the Medicare and Medicaid programs. CMS already has issued several RFIs related to burden reduction and held several events and conducted field research, which are acknowledged in the new RFI. However, the agency notes that it seeks ongoing feedback on how to reduce burden in such areas as enrollment, coding and documentation, quality reporting and prior authorization. ASCRS and the Alliance of Specialty Medicine have responded to the previous RFIs and participated in events related to Patients Over Paperwork. We will similarly respond to this RFI within its 60-day comment period. We will keep you updated.
