This « Pendulum » method requires a bent phaco probe, and begins with a central groove, followed by another 90° to the left and again to the right, without rotation of the nucleus. The bent probe tilts horizontally. Then, the nucleus is fractured in four pieces. This technique is particularly indicated in cases with fragile capsules, or shallow anterior chambers or suspected weak zonulae.
