The ASCRS Foundation is thrilled to announce Roger V. Ohanesian, MD as the 2022 recipient of the ASCRS Foundation Chang-Crandall Humanitarian Award. The award is set to be presented to him at the 2022 ASCRS ASOA Annual Meeting.
“The Armenian EyeCare Project has given me an enormous sense of purpose and good feeling and has been the honor of a lifetime,” Dr. Ohanesian said. “To be recognized and lauded by my own colleagues within ASCRS for my 30 years of devotion to this cause is very gratifying. I would be remiss if I did not include the many ophthalmologists who have joined me multiple times to bring advanced diagnostic and surgical techniques to our grateful colleagues in Armenia. I am in awe of what we have accomplished and immeasurably proud of how far this program has come.”

CONGRATULATIONS 2022 YOUNG EYE SURGEON INTERNATIONAL SERVICE GRANTEE RECIPIENTS
The ASCRS Foundation is proud to announce Wanja Mathenge, MD, and Aakriti Garg Shukla, MD as the 2022 Young Eye Surgeon International Service Grantees.
The Young Eye Surgeons International Service Grant was created to inspire young eye surgeons to become involved with global eye care on a long-term basis. The grant affords the opportunity to participate in health care systems, including teaching institutions and community programs, in developing countries. Working with the ASCRS Foundation and its international partners, recipients get to develop a customized international volunteer plan that provides the opportunity for a young eye surgeon to learn first-hand the intricacies behind global eyecare efforts.

The ASCRS Foundation’s Operation Sight program is fueled by our nationwide network of over 700 ASCRS member volunteers, who are dedicated to helping those in need in their own communities. To celebrate the impact of our volunteers across the nation, the ASCRS Foundation is launching the 2022 Operation Sight Volunteer of the Year Awards!
Click here to nominate a deserving volunteer surgeon, practice administrator, practice, or organization, who demonstrates outstanding dedication to Operation Sight patients, promotes local cataract care accessibility, and embodies charitable spirit through their participation with Operation Sight. The 2022 winners will be announced at the 2022 ASCRS ASOA Annual Meeting. The deadline for nominations is February 25, 2022!
